He monsoon session has now begun and passage of the Triple Talaq and women' reservation bills is parliament's prime concern. While the Triple Talaq bill is stuck in the Rajya Sabha for lack of support from the Oppn led by the congress, the 33% reservation bill has continued to be a topic of debate in the Lok Sabha for the last 10 years. The govt is seeking to do a wager with the congress for the passage of the Triple Talaq bill that is stuck in the Rajya Sabha for lack of support from the opposition. After congress chief Rahul Gandhi offered his unconditional support to the women’s reservation bill and wrote to the centre to back passage of the bill in the Lok Sabha, law minister Ravi Shankar Prasad wrote back to him, asking for his support towards the Triple Talaq bill and prohibition of Nikah Halala.
