A kayaker had an incredible encounter with a large basking shark off the coast of the Isle of Man on June 1.

“The dorsal fin was the first thing I spotted,” the filmer said. “The shark then turned and started to swim towards my kayak!”

“It was only as the shark swam under the kayak I could appreciate how big it was — 7 metres long!” the filmer added.

“The shark continued to feed on plankton as it circled my kayak, and it stayed with me for an exceptionally long period of time,” the filmer said.
