Kalashtami Pujs is dedicated to Kalabhairav, a divine manifestation of Lord Shiva in his highly fierce form. The term Kala denotes time and this term is therefore a name given to Yama or the god of death. Kalashtami puja is performed on Ashtami (the eighth day) from Poornima (full moon day) during Krishnapaksha (the dark phase) of the lunar month.


कालाष्टमी का त्यौहार हर माह की कृष्णपक्ष की अष्टमी तिथि को मनाया जाता है. इस दिन कालभैरव की पूजा की जाती है जिन्हें शिवजी का एक अवतार माना जाता है. इसे कालाष्टमी, भैरवाष्टमी आदि नामों से जाना जाता है. आज के दिन मां दुर्गा की पूजा और व्रत का भी विधान माना गया है. इस बार ये 6 जुलाई को है।
