Supreme Court Rules Police Need A Warrant To Obtain Cell-Site Records

According to a report by Buzz Feed News, the Supreme Court ruled on Friday that a warrant is generally required in order for police to obtain a person's cell-site records. Chief Justice John Roberts reportedly ruled that the acquisition of such records is a Fourth Amendment search, requiring probable cause to obtain. Roberts wrote, "This case is not about 'using a phone' or a person’s movement at a particular time.
