The First Lady is said to have encouraged President Trump to stop the separation of families.
CNN reports a White House official said Melania had several private conversations with her husband.
Trump on Wednesday signed an executive order to stop children from being separated from parents.
"My wife feels very strongly about it. I think anybody with a heart will feel strongly about it -- we don't like to see families being separated.
