Missing Poodle Puppy forms special bond with rescuer

A truck driver who found an abandoned poodle eventually tracked down the owner - who said he could keep her because the dog had fallen in love with him. Burly Dean Parlett, 42, spotted Kiki the black puppy scavenging on an industrial estate and took pity on her. The pedigree dog was cold, hungry and riddled with fleas and Dean looked after her and would take her for trips in his HGV cab. He took her to a vet and a microchip revealed she was a valuable poodle that had been missing six months before. Dean then drove 300 miles in his massive lorry to reunite the stolen dog with her owner Patricia Telling, 75, of Hurst Park, Surrey. He dropped her off but two days later Patricia called him and said the dog was pining - and had obviously formed a "special bond" and he should keep her. Dean drove back in his HGV and left with the poodle propped on his passenger seat - and is now looking after her full time.
