11 year-old diabetic fitted with a 'bionic' pancreas
  • 5 years ago
An 11 year-old diabetic whose blood sugar levels had to be checked 10 times a day has gone to his first sleepover - after being fitted with a 'bionic' pancreas. Daniel Walls' body doesn't produce any insulin so he needs regular injections to maintain a healthy level. He has to check his blood reguarly throughout the day and his parents had to get up during the night to test him. But now Daniel has been fitted with an ipod-like device which mimicks the role of the pancreas and does everything for him.
