Couple's detached house turned into semi by neighbours building work

A furious couple have blasted their neighbour for wiping thousands off the value of their home after his giant extension turned their detached house into a semi. Gerard, 70, and Christina White, 65, used to have a 4ft gap between their property - which they have lived in for 37 years - and next door. But that was swallowed up when their neighbour Mohammed Nazir began his gigantic expansion project - without planning permission. The two homes on a leafy street in Moseley, Birmingham, are now separated by just millimetres at roof level and are so close they even share a gutter. Incredibly, despite Mr Nazir breaching planning rules, Birmingham City Council has bizarrely approved his finished extension. The massive extension has now been branded a "monstrosity" by area Labour MP for Birmingham Selly Oak Steve McCabe. And yesterday (Thur), retired deputy headteacher Christina said the expansion would knock thousands off the value of their £250,000 home.
