Men respond to sexy curves more than crying babies

Men are more likely to respond to the sight of sexy car than the sound of a crying baby, according to new research. Boffins have analysed how the brain reacts emotionally to car design and how design aesthetics actually make people feel. The experiment showed a car could evoke a powerful range of feelings that are "on a par with the most basic of human emotions". Participants were asked to rate a series of images whilst wearing a dry sensor headset which measured brainwave activity in the pre-frontal cortex of the brain. The images included the new Volvo Concept Coupé alongside perceived 'bad' and 'out-dated' car design, visuals of happy and crying babies and people considered to be 'beautiful'.
