A rare book which was the first to document the lives of everyday Londoners in 1877 has been put up for auction. Produced at the dawn of photography the fascinating
historical document features portraits raning from road sweepers to flower sellers. Scottish photo pioneer John Thomson worked with radical journalist Adolphe Smith to capture the unique historical snapshot of the Victorian age where Londoners were witnessing the invention of the phonograph. the first tennis tounament at Wimbledon
