Leah Sharpe's touching video to her beloved grandad Ray

Student Leah Sharpe has been awarded a first degree honours -- thanks
to her terminally ill grandad who starred in a touching Royle
Family-style university film just days before he died. Leah Sharpe,
21, recorded a warts-and-all diary of bed-ridden granddad Ray, 84, as
he slowly succumbed to prostate cancer at the home he shared with
doting wife Marion, 82. In the moving nine-minute film Ray, born and
bred in Nottingham, can be seen cracking jokes and even singing songs
with his family as he lives out his last days. The opening scenes
show him declaring his love for his 'wonderful family' who he
describes as the 'best in the world' in his distinctive local accent.
The short film, which is shot at the retired factory worker's home in
Nottingham, reveals the heart-warming, and often hilarious, moments of
the family as they gather to share Ray's final memories.
