Fake bomb detector ADE651 cost thousands of lives
  • 5 years ago
Cold-hearted Jim McCormick enjoyed a life of luxury with the millions he earned selling his fake bomb detectors - while thousands of people died. Police describe his scam as 'diabolical' and estimate it made him around £14 million (pounds) in just five years. McCormick bought a fabulous £3.5 million house in the famous Circus in Bath which he kept as a weekend retreat for entertaining. He also had a £480,000 holiday home in Limassol on Cyprus and gave his elderly father a $283,000 (dollars) condominium in Naples, Florida. He splashed out on a £630,000 luxury yacht 'Aesthete' and kept three dressage horses each worth £70,000 in expensive livery stables for his two daughters.
