Televangelist seeks charity for $54M jet to share the gospel

LOUISIANA — A televangelist based in Louisiana is seeking money from his followers for a $54 million jet for "the Lord's work," reports The Times-Picayune.

Reportedly, the jet can "go anywhere in the world in one stop."

Televangelist Jesse Duplantis is asking money to purchase a Dassault Falcon 7X, a three-engine jet with a range upto 5,950 nautical miles and with customizable cabins which can hold 12 to 16 passengers, The Times-Picayune reports.

Duplantis stated in a video posted to his ministries' website that he has owned three different jets in his life, his most recent purchase being in 2006, and has "used them and burning them up for the Lord."

He apparently believes that the Falcon 7X will allow him to save money and not pay "those exorbitant prices with jet fuel all over the world."

When asked about his use of private jets, Duplantis defended himself saying that commercial airlines are filled with "a bunch of demons" which "get in the way of their busy schedules."

Duplantis mentioned that God himself asked him to believe in Him for a Falcon 7X, and not purchase it himself, according to The Christian Post.

Duplantis added that he believes that if "Jesus was physically on the earth today, he wouldn't be riding a donkey. He would be in an airplane preaching the gospel all over the world."
