Televangelist & Outspoken Trump Supporter Enters Race For Gowdy's Seat

Adding to a growing number of Republican lawmakers leaving Congress during Trump's first term in office, Trey Gowdy, the chairman of the House oversight committee, announced that he would not run for re-election this month. The campaign of outspoken Trump supporter and televangelist pastor Mark Burns announced that he would be running for Gowdy's seat in South Carolina's conservative-leaning 4th Congressional District.
