As Harper's Bazaar noted, "BBC Three's Twitter account posted a picture of the crowd assembled outside Windsor Castle this morning, alongside a picture of the crowd for Donald Trump's inauguration last January and the delightfully shady caption 'just saying ¯\_(ツ)_/¯'"
President Trump's inauguration crowd size has been a source of controversy since he took office.
Trump and his team have spoken out several times about the number of people who witnessed the event; in fact, former White House press secretary Sean Spicer declared that "this was the largest audience to ever witness an inauguration, period."
However, estimates have placed the figure at a fraction of Barack Obama's first term inauguration crowd.
Many social media users reacted to the BBC's tweet on Saturday.
"Trump will be secretly wondering if this royal wedding crowd is bigger than at his inauguration," wrote one tweeter.
"I'm waiting for @seanspicer and @realDonaldTrump to come out and say the inauguration crowd was double that of the royal wedding," someone else tweeted.
