According to a report by Business Insider, after hitting a low point in 2012, cocaine production in Columbia has boomed, rising 134% between 2013 and 2016. Columbia has since become the world's top producer, cranking out more cocaine than Peru and Bolivia combined. Over 90% of that cocaine enters the United States through the Mexico/Central America corridor, which is where the US Coast Guard and its partners try to ebb the flow. Coast Guard Commandant Adm.
