Trump: 'I've Been Fighting To Drain The Swamp, But Sometimes It May Not Look Like It'

President Trump on Thursday talked about "draining the swamp."

President Trump campaigned hard on the promise to "drain the swamp," which at the time meant reform on lobbying, preventing administration members from profiting through their positions, and ethics at large. On Thursday, he suggested that he has been doing just that.  "From the day I took the oath of office, I've been fighting to drain the swamp, and sometimes it may not look like it, but believe me, we are draining the swamp," he said during an address about tax reform. "You can see that every day. All you have to do is turn on the news," the president continued. "Every time you see me hit, you know that I'm draining the swamp and people don't like it."  Trump's comments come amid a stream of reports regarding Environmental Protection Agency Administrator Scott Pruitt.  He is under scrutiny for his travel and security spending as well as a $50-a-night deal he got on the rental of a Capitol Hill condo owned by the wife of an energy lobbyist, notes The Hill.
