The Weeknd’s ‘My Dear Melancholy’ is No. 1 on Billboard 200 Albums Chart The Canadian artist made a stellar debut, marking his third consecutive
No. 1 album in a row. According to Nielsen, ‘My Dear Melancholy’ totaled 169,000 equivalent album units in its first week of release. Interestingly enough, the last R&B album to record numbers this high was The Weeknd’s ‘Starboy,’ which was released in Nov. 2016. ‘Beauty Behind the Madness’ was the Grammy winner’s first no.1 album top the Billboard 200 albums chart. Billboard stated that ‘My Dear Melancholy’ had the highest sales week for an R&B album in nearly a year. If that weren’t enough, the album is the shortest – by track count – to reach No. 1 in almost eight years. The six-track album had a surprise release on March 30.
