IPL 2018: Highlights from Mumbai Indians (MI) vs Chennai SuperKings (CSK)
In the first match of the 11th edition of the Indian Premiere League (IPL), Chennai Superkings made a comeback after 2 years. With the opening ceremony involving the likes of Hrithik Roshan, Varun Dhawan & Tamanna, cricket was next on the agenda. CSK's captain, MS Dhoni won the toss and elected to field first. Rohit Sharma told at the toss that he would've done the same. MI got off to a torrid start but the partnership between Ishant Kishan & Suryakumar Yadav steadied the ship. With the flying knock from Krunal Pandya's bat, MI set up a competitive target of 166 runs. When CSK came into bat, they were blown away by the spin of Mayank Markande. The Patiala born boy spun a web and caught MS Dhoni in it. CSK seemed down and out from the game till Dwayne Bravo smashed MI bowlers including the likes of Jasprit Bumrah to all corners of the park. With 7 runs needed he was caught. CSK still had one wicket in hand but it was of the injured Kedar Jadhav who seemed to have had a hamstring injury. With one leg, he smashed a six towards fine leg and the very next ball creamed it to the covers for a boundary. CSK won the nail bitter with 1 wicket in hand. This was their first win against MI in an opener of any IPL. On the other hand, MI has never won their opener since 2013.
