SCs/STs Protection Act: After centre filed review petition; SC agrees to urgent hearing in an Open court. Violent protests erupted yesterday during a nationwide bandh called by several Dalit organisations against the alleged dilution of the SCs/STs Act. The violent protests hit life across the country with incidents of arson and vandalism reported from Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and Punjab, among other states. Meanwhile, the centre will today push for a urgent hearing on the review petittion filed against the SC order today.
