Bhima-Koregaon violence: Protest emerges at Mumbai's Azad Maidan in support of Sambhaji Bhide

Protests are being held at Azad Maidan in Mumbai in support of leader Sambhaji Bhide, the main accused in the violence that took place at Bhima-Koregoan on January 1. Shiv Pratishthan Hindustan wanted to hold a rally from Byculla to Azad Maidan in south Mumbai and from Shaniwarwada to the district collectorate in Pune. Mumbai Police though allowed the organisation to hold a gathering at Azad Maidan, the Pune Police denied permission for a protest in the city. Rallies have also been planned in other parts of Maharashtra and Bhide is expected to address a rally in Sangi.
