BJP Rajya Coup: JDS Vs Cong pitted in K'taka; this 'gang' to challenge Modi? — Nation at 9
  • 6 years ago
The final results are still awaited, but the Rajya Sabha polls that from today will give the BJP its highest membership in India’s upper house ever have already left a mark of indelible ink in a charged political landscape. The majority of the Rajya Sabha arithmetic is a foregone conclusion being a direct bearing of known votes that each party has in assemblies across the country. But 3 battles and 3 states are proving to have a political impact. BJP's 9th seat in U.P, in which at least 1 BSP and 1 SP MLA are believed to have cross voted in favour of the BJP. The inability of the JDS and the congress to work together in Karnataka. And the direct challenge placed by the CPM on the congress, unsuccessful though due to Mamata's backing in Bengal. Regional satraps often flirt with third front dreams. They're doing so again. But in the real defeat both with the people and politics, how many of them will declare a moral defeat today as quick others are happy to declare a moral victory at every uptick? At a time when every political fight big and small is a puzzle in India’s clout index. What have we learnt today, here's what we know so far, then let's talk.
