++CLIENTS PLEASE NOTE: THIS VIDEO HAS BEEN LOOPED++ More than one hundred whales died after washing ashore in Western Australia today (March 23).

Heartbreaking footage shows dozens of pilot whales lying dead on the sand in Hamelin Bay as a group of people try to revive some of the mammals by throwing water to them.

According to local reports, only 7 of all the stranded pilot whales had survived.

Experts and authorities say these pilot whales are known for beaching themselves but they don't know the reasons for this rare behaviour.
