95% of Parkland Students Returned to School Today Following Shooting Broward County Schools superintendent Robert Runcie said 95 percent of the school's 3,294 students returned to Majory Stoneman Douglas on Wednesday. Two weeks ago on Feb. 14, 19-year-old Nikolas Cruz opened fire on the school's campus, killing 17 people. Runcie said there would be 150 counselors, as well as 40 therapy dogs, on campus ready to support students and staff members, according to Time. He also added that law enforcement will have a heavy presence at the school for the remainder of the year.
