Amazon is About to Lay Off Hundreds of Employees According to the Seattle Times, hundreds of corporate employees will be cut. Many of the cuts will reportedly be from the retail division. The exact number has yet to be revealed though they will be from all across the United States, including "several hundred" from the company's Seattle headquarters. "As part of our annual planning process, we are making head count adjustments across the company — small reductions in a couple of places and aggressive hiring in many others." The move to lay off large batches of employees is out of character for Amazon, who recently announced the 20 cities on the shortlist for its second headquarters.
