71 killed in deadly Saratov plane crash near Moscow

MOSCOW — A Russian plane crashed on Sunday, killing everyone onboard.
The crash ended a 440-day streak without passenger airliner fatalities, which was the longest streak in modern aviation history, according to CNN.
The Russian News Agency reports that Saratov Airlines flight 703 was set to fly from Moscow to Orsk with 65 passengers and six crew members.
The Antonov AN-148 jet took off at 2:21 p.m. but reportedly disappeared from the radar about 5 minutes later.
The BBC reports that according to flight-tracking site Flightradar24, the plane descended rapidly at a rate of 1,000 meters a minute. Eyewitnesses reported seeing it on fire as it fell from the sky and crashed near the village of Stepanovskoye, outside Moscow.
Authorities searching through fragments of the wreckage have recovered the plane's black box, and confirmed the deaths of all 71 people onboard.
Investigators have yet to determine what caused the crash, but say weather conditions or pilot error are possibilities.
