Flags fly at half staff at the Kazan airport in Russia Monday after 50 people died in a plane crash.

A Boeing 737 enroute from Moscow crashed Sunday as it attempted to land.

The son of the president of the province was among those who died.

The plane had been trying to abort its landing in order to make a second approach when it crashed, killing all 44 passengers and six crew members.

Officials say there had been no technical problems reported with the plane prior to the flight and regular maintenance and troubleshooting had been conducted.
