Colourful flower festival gets under way in Thailand

The 42nd Chiang Mai Flower Festival opened in Thailand on Friday with thousands of visitors expected to attend the colourful three-day event.
The festival takes place each year in Suan Buak Haad park which is transformed on the weekend of the festival by floral displays.
The festival also involves the Flower Parade in which scores of dancers and musicians cross the city handing out flowers to spectators.
