昨年より2万人以上も多いツアー史上最多の19万1400人が来場した2日目。初日に続いて5アンダー「66」をマークしたリッキー・ファウラーが、通算10アンダーとしてブライソン・デシャンボーと並び首位に立った。
この日のスタート前に、大会3連覇を目指していた松山英樹が左手痛のため棄権。同組で回る予定だったファウラーは、ウェブ・シンプソンとの2サムで7バーディ、2ボギーとスコアを伸ばした。一方のデシャンボーもファウラーと同じく連日の「66」を並べた。
通算9アンダーの3位には、ダニエル・バーガーとチェズ・リービーの2人。通算8アンダーの5位にチェッソン・ハドリー、スコット・ストーリングス、クリス・カークの3人が続いた。
通算7アンダーの8位には、地元アリゾナ州立大学出身のフィル・ミケルソンとジョン・ラーム（スペイン）ら11人がつけている。また、今季3試合目のジョーダン・スピースはカットラインに1打届かず予選落ちとなった。

The second day when 191,400 visitors, the largest number of tours ever since more than 20,000 people visited since last year. Ricky Fowler, who marked 5 under par with "66" following the first day, was the top leader with Bryson Deschambault as 10 under under.
Hideki Matsuyama, who was aiming for the third consecutive tournament before the start of this day, abstained from left pain.
