Coast Guard vessels broke up ice on the Connecticut River, near Essex, on January 18.This video shows the 65-foot small harbor tugs Cutter Hawser and Bollard taking part in the Coast Guard’s effort to clear the river of ice jams, which NBC said they had been doing for several days.
