6.4 magnitude earthquake hits southern Japan

A powerful earthquake with a preliminary magnitude of 6.4 struck southern Japan on Thursday, causing some damage but there was no danger of a tsunami. Officials said they were still assessing the damage. One aftershock measuring 5.7 struck about 40 minutes later, according to Japan's Meteorological Agency. James Valles reporting (BNO News)
