Trump Says Bannon 'Betrayed' Him

President Trump said in an interview with the Wall Street Journal on Thursday that Steve Bannon "betrayed" him.

In the wake of his public feud with former White House chief strategist Steve Bannon, President Trump told the Wall Street Journal that Bannon "betrayed" him.
"I feel betrayed because you're not supposed to do that," Trump told the Journal in his interview on Thursday.
The controversy erupted after excerpts from Michael Wolff's new book, 'Fire and Fury: Inside the Trump White House,' revealed that Bannon had made many unflattering remarks about Donald Trump Jr. and Jared Kushner.
Trump soon after released a statement, saying, "Steve Bannon has nothing to do with me or my Presidency. When he was fired, he not only lost his job, he lost his mind."
The book also raised questions about Trump's mental fitness, leading him to target both Wolff and Bannon in his tweets and press appearances.
"Michael Wolff is a total loser who made up stories in order to sell this really boring and untruthful book," Trump wrote in one of the tweets on January 5. "He used Sloppy Steve Bannon, who cried when he got fired and begged for his job. Now Sloppy Steve has been dumped like a dog by almost everyone. Too bad!"
Within days, it was announced that Bannon was stepping down from his executive chairman role at Breitbart News.
Whether the split between the two is permanent or not, it remains to be seen. As Trump told the Journal, "we'll see what happens."
