The Nevada Test and Training Range to begin annual bighorn sheep hunt

The Nevada Test and Training Range will host their annual bighorn sheep hunt. Fifteen hunting tags have been issued in three mountain ranges normally off limits to the general public. Before hunters are allowed onto the range for the annual bighorn sheep hunt, they have to undergo a criminal background check, submit a full inventory of their firearms, vehicles and optical equipment, and take part in a safety briefing so they know how to recognize and avoid hazards such as unexploded ordnance. The hunt begins Saturday Dec. 16 at sunrise and lasts through sunset on Jan. 1. Signs are put up and roads are blocked to keep hunters out of target areas where explosive material and other hazards are most likely to be found. John Hurley The annual event is known as one of the most unusual and exclusive hunts in the state of Nevada.
