Child Rescued From Rubble After Strikes on East Damascus Suburb

The Syrian Civil Defense in Damascus, popularly known as the White Helmets, posted footage on January 2, reporting the rescue of a child from rubble after airstrikes hit Harasta, a suburb in northeast Damascus.The Syrian Observatory for Human Rights reported that ten strikes killed one person and wounded seven others.Damascus has been the scene of recent clashes as Syrian government forces attempted to take control of rebel-held areas.Humanitarian agencies have been evacuating civilians from the area since December 2017 and the UN described the situation in the Eastern Ghouta area as a “humanitarian emergency.” Credit: YouTube/Syrian Civil Defense in Damascus via Storyful
