Director At Trump’s DC Hotel Allegedly Sent Email Stating Trump Is ‘Definitely Still Involved’

According to an email written by the director of revenue management at the Trump International Hotel in Washington, D.C., and obtained by the Daily Beast, President Trump is "still involved" in his company.

Shortly before being inaugurated as the president of the United States, Donald Trump said he would "hand off control" of his business empire to his sons, reports Reuters.
According to an email written by Jeng Chi Hung, director of revenue management at the Trump International Hotel in Washington, D.C., and obtained by the Daily Beast, the president is "still involved."
The message reportedly sent to an acquaintance just months ago, noted, in part, "DJT is supposed to be out of the business and passed on to his sons, but he's definitely still involved."
"I had a brief meeting with him a few weeks ago, and he was asking about banquet revenues and demographics," the email further stated. "And, he asked if his presidency hurt the businesses."
Mickael Damelincourt, the hotel's managing director, denied that the email's contents are true, noting the sender admitted lying to his friend in an effort to look important.
Even if the message in question is nothing more than an exercise in self-aggrandizement, Trump's alleged concern about his impact on hotel business would have been warranted.
While the property in DC exceeded income expectations for 2017, many Trump hotels elsewhere have suffered due to their popularity as protest sites, notes Axios.
The media outlet reports that "one Trump hotel in the SOHO neighborhood in New York and one in Toronto changed their names, and a third hotel in Panama City is looking to rebrand."
Furthermore, Eric Trump recently told the New York Times, "his father's presidency had complicated the [Trump Organization's] ability to start new deals."
