On Thursday CSX Corp said that its Chief Executive Officer, Hunter Harrison, was taking medical leave due to unexpected complications from a recent unspecified illness. The announcement comes amid a controversial turnaround plan at the No. 3 U.S. railroad that has garnered customer criticism as well as scrutiny from regulators. James Foote, who stepped up as CSX’s chief operating officer in late October, was appointed acting CEO in Harrison’s absence.
