Indian captain Virat Kohli was forced to declare the innings at the score of 536 for the loss of 7 wickets after the Sri Lankans continually complained about the effect that smog was having on their fielders. The Sri Lankan players took a break after almost every over as their players were unable to deal with the smog and polluted air, even though they were wearing protective masks. At one point, the Lankans had only 10 players on the field as one by one the players were forced to go off citing sickness due to the conditions.

भारत और श्रीलंका के बीच दिल्ली में खेले जा रहे टेस्ट मैच के दौरान बल्लेबाजी कर रहे कप्तान विराट कोहली भड़क गए। इसी गुस्सा का नतीजा रहा कि उन्होंने अपने विकेट गंवाना पड़ा। गुस्सा यहीं शांत नहीं हुआ। आनन-फानन में विराट कोहली ने पारी घोषित कर दी।विराट ने गुस्से में भारत की पारी को घोषित कर दी, क्योंकि स्मॉग की वजह से श्रीलंका के खिलाड़ी बार-बार मैच में रुकावट पैदा कर रहे थे।कोहली का गुस्सा जायज था क्योंकि मैच रेफरी डेविड बून ने मैच जारी रखने का निर्देश दिया था। कोहली ने ये फैसला किया कि अगर श्रीलंकाई टीम को फील्डिंग करने में दिक्कत हो रही है तो हम गेंदबाजी कर लेते हैं।
