Part of a pier collapsed in Oakland, California on Friday, December 1, at the site of a housing and retail development.This footage shows the moment a portion of the pier crumbled and fell into the Brooklyn Basin during construction work. About 30 feet of the pier and a portion of the road collapsed, according to the East Bay Times, but nobody was injured in the accident. A crew member from the Oakland Fire Department told the newspaper it was investigating the cause of the accident, which happened near the intersection of 5th Avenue and Embarcadero.
