BJP leader Subramanian Swamy has added a totally new dimension to the controversy over the movie Padmavati by saying that it was funded from Dubai and is a part of an international conspiracy to defame Hindus. "People from Dubai want that Muslims kings be portyaed as heros in the cinema, they want to show as if Hindu women wanted relationships (with them). This is a controversy, and showing (Queen) Padmini in poor light was a part of it. They tried that even with Akbar and Jodha Bai. Many such films have come in the last 10 years. Under UPA regime, such things got a boost," Swamy said.
