Icelandic town creates 3D zebra crossing to slow down cars

A small town in Iceland is the latest to introduce a '3D' zebra crossing in an attempt to make drivers slow down to lower the rate of accidents.

The pedestrian crossing in Ísafjörður in northwest Iceland was painted to give the optical illusion of the white stripes floating above the ground making it look like there is something blocking the road.

Iceland's environment commissioner, Ralf Trylla decided to implement the 3D crossing after seeing a similar project in New Delhi, India.
