Recent footage has emerged showing empty shelves at a San Juan supermarket eight weeks after the devastating Hurricane Maria hit the island of Puerto Rico.

The video was filmed recently by a local resident.

According to reports, three-quarters of residents in the country still do not have power and are left to consume non-potable water.

Locals have criticised the US government's recovery efforts.
