California officially recognizes third gender
  • 7 years ago
California is the first state to officially recognize a third gender, thanks to a signed bull by Governor Jerry Brown. Californians can now identify as male, female, or non-binary. This would apply to any legal documents, such as driver's licenses and birth certificates. The bill's co-author, Senator Toni Atkins, told Buzzfeed. “I want to thank Gov. Brown for recognizing how difficult it can be for our transgender, nonbinary, and intersex family members, friends, and neighbors when they don’t have an ID that matches their gender presentation.”
