No. 2 ranked Kelsey Chmiel of Saratoga Springs entered the NXN New York Regional with a target on her back as the New York Class A State champion and New York Federation champion. But nothing can be taken for granted in cross country and especially not in a state like New York. With No. 11 Katelyn Tuohy and No. 13 Jessica Lawson, plus Class B state champion Katherine Lee and the crew from No. 1 ranked Fayetteville-Manlius, the field at Bowdoin Park was arguably the most competitive girls field out of any other NXN or Foot Locker Regional field this year.
