Shooting Stars Captured from Southern Hemisphere, Following X-Flare
  • 7 years ago
A photographer captured an amazing timelapse of a September 8-9 Southern Lights display visible from Tasmania and across the ocean in New Zealand.A pair of massive solar flares earlier in the week, as reported by NASA, triggered magnetic storms that resulted in brilliant auroras across the globe. National Geographic reported they were X-class flares, the most powerful category for a solar flare, and were capable of disrupting GPS signals and electric grids. They were visible from Tasmania, the apple-shaped island that sits across a narrow sea from the Australia mainland.
