Trump Tells Guam Governor That Tourism Will Go Up Amidst North Korea Tensions

US President Donald Trump said the North Korea nuclear crisis would boost tourism to Guam in a phone call meant to offer his support to the governor and the people of the US Pacific territory.“You’ve become extremely famous,” Trump said to Governor Eddie Baza Calvo in a phone call with Chief of Staff John Kelly. North Korea’s state-owned news agency KCNA reported earlier this week that Pyongyang planned to target the waters around Guam in demonstration of its missile technology later in August.“All over the world they’re talking about Guam and they’re talking about you. And your tourism, I can say this, your tourism going to go up like tenfold with the expenditure of no money, so I can congratulate you.”Trump reassured Calvo and the people of Guam that the White House was behind them “1000 per cent” and that residents of Guam should not “worry about a thing.” Credit: Eddie Baza Calvo via Storyful
