Gopal Krishna Gandhi will be the candidate from the opposition for the election to the Vice President of the country. In the meeting of opposition parties held in Delhi, 18 political parties unanimously decided that Gopal Krishna Gandhi will be Vice-President candidate. This meeting was chaired by Congress President Sonia Gandhi. Sharad Yadav joined JDU at the meeting.

देश के उपराष्ट्रपति के लिए होने वाले चुनाव में विपक्ष की तरफ से गोपाल कृष्ण गांधी उम्मीदवार होंगे। दिल्ली में हुई विपक्षी दलों की बैठक में 18 राजनीतिक दलों ने सर्वसम्मति से निर्णय लिया गया कि गोपाल कृष्ण गांधी को उपराष्ट्रपति उम्मीदवार बनाया जाएगा। इस बैठक की अध्यक्षता कांग्रेस अध्यक्ष सोनिया गांधी ने की। बैठक में जेडीयू की तरफ से शरद यादव शामिल हुए।
