Gopal Krishna Gandhi could be Opposition’s choice for President

New Delhi: Gopal Krishna Devadas Gandhi (71), grandson of Mahatma Gandhi and C Rajagopala-chari, emerged as the likely choice of the Opposition as its candidate in the Presidential elections due in July.

On Friday, Congress President Sonia Gandhi will host a lunch for Opposition leaders at Parliament House to discuss the candidate for the President’s post. Gandhi has enough experience of the intricacies of Raisina Hill responsibilities since he has been secretary to President K R Narayanan from 1997 to 2000 and earlier as the joint secretary to President R Venkataraman from 1987 to 1992.
