Fox Sports cuts writing jobs to make room for video department

Fox Sports is taking a more visual approach to their reporting. 21st Century Fox Inc. decided to cut over 20 writing and editing positions in Los Angeles so a video production team could help the company evolve. The company believes video will complement on-air shows, work with ad sales on web and television, and has potential to gain viral status on social media. Jamie Horowitz of the Fox Sports cable networks and online operations explained the benefit of the company's change: “We will be shifting our resources and business model away from written content and instead focus on our fans’ growing appetite for premium video across all platforms. Gone are the days of uploading content to a hub and hoping an audience seeks it out. We will be taking a proactive approach to distributing our content to sports fans on their preferred platforms.”
