Next week, the International Olympic Committee is set to release a full program of events for the 2020 Olympic Games. The executive board is considering adding 3-on-3 basketball to the list of the events alongside baseball, karate, and softball, to name a few. As far as the new basketball format, 100 athletes would be added to the sport's quota for the games. FIBA secretary general Patrick Baumann shed more light on the games: "Now there is an urban cluster that has been created. The best urban team sport is 3-on-3 street basketball. It would certainly be a perfect fit. It's a different skill set. It's really a 10-minute sprint, no coach, so you need to take the right decisions." The IOC's executive board will also be discussing hosts for the 2024 and 2028 games with Paris and Los Angeles as current front-runners.
