Shelly Baer help found the Bold Beauty Project to dispel stereotypes about disabled women. The exhibition series, which launched in Washington D.C. in 2015, seeks to portray disabled women as “beautiful, sensual and empowered women,” because as Baer told Mic, “you don’t really see women in the media portrayed that way.” The 2015 exhibition was a success and now Baer and her team and working to take it around the country.
